What is ProFractional Therapy?
ProFractional Therapy – also referred to as laser skin resurfacing – is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving the overall appearance of your skin. The procedure is performed in our office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
Candidates for ProFractional Therapy
The best candidates for ProFractional Therapy are those people who want to minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, uneven skin tone, and other complexion issues. Not everyone will be a candidate for laser skin resurfacing; that’s why it’s important to schedule a consultation before undergoing treatment.
How Does It Work?
ProFractional uses a tiny laser beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. These laser lights create the tiniest puncture wounds, which is barely visible to the naked eye. Because only a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. The micro-punctures within your complexion prompts the skin’s wound healing response, which creates new collagen, thus adding firmness and resilience to the skin.

Is It Painful?
ProFractional Therapy isn’t painful; most patients compare the treatment to feeling a warming, slightly itching sensation on the skin during the procedure. If you’re worried that you’ll feel uncomfortable, let your esthetician know. He or she can apply a topical anesthetic to help ensure you’re comfortable throughout the treatment.
Is There Any Downtime?
There’s no downtime associated with ProFractional Therapy, so you can go about your normal routine. However, your skin will be extra-sensitive to the sun, so it’s important to wear sunscreen whenever you go outside. You may also notice slight peeling and redness within the first week after your treatment.
